Job Summary

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will be responsible for tracking the performance and outcomes of SSEOA’s educational and livelihood initiatives. The position ensures that project activities are aligned with expected results, donor requirements are met, and accurate data informs decision-making. This role involves designing M&E systems, gathering and analyzing field data, preparing reports, and supporting program improvement through evidence-based recommendations. The M&E Officer will work closely with both the Program Manager and the central M&E team to maintain accountability, enhance program quality, and ensure impact.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and update monitoring and evaluation systems that align with project objectives.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to ensure accurate data collection and observe project activities.
  • Manage baseline, midline, and final assessments to track changes and impacts.
  • Validate and verify data through routine quality checks.
  • Measure performance indicators and track gender-inclusive progress in education and livelihood programs.
  • Prepare clear and timely reports (monthly, quarterly) summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Document key learnings, challenges, and stories of success for reporting and learning purposes.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date M&E records, both physical and digital.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Program Manager and work in sync with the Head Office M&E unit.
  • Ensure all monitoring processes comply with donor and organizational standards.
  • Establish community-level feedback and complaint-handling mechanisms to ensure accountability.
  • Assist in revising strategies and activities based on M&E outcomes and stakeholder feedback.
  • Monitor participation trends among women and girls, addressing issues limiting their engagement.
  • Build the capacity of field staff through training on M&E tools and data management.
  • Promote gender sensitivity and protection principles across M&E activities.
  • Take on any other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager or M&E leadership.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in M&E roles, especially within education or development-focused organizations.
  • Practical experience using KoBo Toolbox for data collection and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills in Pashto, Dari, and English (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in using MS Office and open-source data management tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing, planning, and time management.
  • Ability to coordinate within diverse teams and build effective working relationships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, particularly in Takhar province.
