Women for Women International (WfWI) supports women survivors of war and conflict in 17 countries around the world. We focus on regions with the greatest inequality, investing in women often overlooked by traditional development programs. Through our comprehensive training and support, women gain the skills they need to rebuild their lives, support their families, and uplift their communities.
Our programs bring women together in community-based groups where they learn about savings, business development, health, rights, and leadership. For over 30 years, WfWI has pioneered an integrated, evidence-driven approach—continually evolving based on input from data, field teams, and the women we serve.
Since 2002, WfWI has operated in five provinces of Afghanistan. Participants in our program receive vocational training in areas such as animal husbandry, tailoring, and knitting. They also join savings groups, receive stipends, and are guided on how to invest in small businesses. In addition, we empower women with knowledge of their rights, household decision-making, and community engagement. We also engage men—relatives and local leaders—as allies in creating social change.
WfWI supports grassroots, women-led organizations through capacity-building and access to resources. Globally, we advocate for women’s inclusion, voice, and leadership in post-conflict recovery. By centering women’s experiences and priorities, we build the evidence needed to influence decision-makers and create lasting change.
