About MISFA Ltd

The Microfinance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) was established in 2003 at the invitation of the Afghan Government to ensure effective donor coordination from the outset and avoid the challenges caused by conflicting donor objectives in other post-conflict environments.

MISFA serves as a platform through which the Government of Afghanistan and international donors can channel technical assistance and funding to develop the country’s microfinance sector. As the first facility of its kind in Afghanistan, MISFA pooled resources from multiple donors into a unified, flexible support system for microfinance institutions. This support was tailored to local priorities, strengthened with technical assistance, and backed by robust performance monitoring.

MISFA’s mission is to contribute to Afghanistan’s economic growth by fostering a sustainable, inclusive financial sector that serves the poor and underserved small and medium enterprises.
