Job Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Project Manager to oversee and supervise projects across multiple provinces in Afghanistan. The Project Manager will be responsible for reviewing contractor submittals, work plans, and quality control (QC) plans, ensuring that all aspects of the project comply with technical specifications and contractual requirements. This role involves managing contractor performance, ensuring adherence to required standards, and maintaining quality and safety throughout all project activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Contractor Submittals: Evaluate and review contractors' submittals, including design documents, work plans, and quality control plans, to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
  • Work Plan Review: Assess and approve contractors' work plans, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and resource allocations.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the implementation of quality control plans, ensuring all work meets local and international quality standards.
  • Supervision and Monitoring: Conduct regular site inspections and field visits to assess construction progress and verify compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Contractor Performance Monitoring: Ensure contractors adhere to project schedules, cost estimates, and quality standards, addressing discrepancies or issues as needed.
  • Problem Solving and Reporting: Identify project issues and risks, implement corrective actions, and provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and organize all project-related documentation, including contractor submissions, site reports, and progress updates, for reference and compliance.
  • Coordination: Serve as a liaison between contractors, the project team, local authorities, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication and timely project execution.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure adherence to local regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines throughout project implementation.
Job Requirements

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP or equivalent are highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in supervising or managing construction projects, preferably in Afghanistan or similar regions.
  • Proven experience in reviewing contractor submittals, work plans, quality control plans, and related documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction project processes from planning to execution, with a focus on quality control and contractor management.
  • Experience managing multiple project sites, including in multi-province or remote locations.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of construction management practices, including work plan and QC plan reviews, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting technical documents such as design drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across all project sites.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, construction management software, and other relevant tools.
